Can I convert JSON to Excel online without uploading my data?
Yes, conversion runs entirely in your browser, and nothing is sent anywhere. Paste the JSON text and press “Convert to XLSX” to download converted.xlsx. For a JSON file, copy and paste its contents into the text area; there is no file upload.
What JSON structure works for converting an array to Excel?
An array of objects produces one spreadsheet row per object, while a single object produces one row. Headers follow the order keys first appear, including new keys in later objects; missing keys leave empty cells. A bare number or string in the top-level array goes into a column named value.
How does JSON to Excel conversion handle nested objects and arrays?
Nested objects become columns with dot-separated paths, while arrays inside objects stay in one cell as JSON text. For example, a nested city can become address.city, and ["a","b"] remains the text ["a","b"]. Numbers become number cells, booleans become boolean cells, strings stay text, and null leaves an empty cell.
Why do my long IDs change when I convert JSON to XLSX?
Unquoted integers beyond 9007199254740991 (2^53 - 1) lose precision in the browser's JSON parser before reaching the spreadsheet. The parser stores numbers as 64-bit floating point, so 12345678901234567890 becomes 12345678901234567000. Put long IDs in quotes in the original JSON so they remain exact text.
Why is my JSON date written as text in Excel?
A date such as "2025-11-27" stays text because JSON has no date type. The converter preserves the string rather than creating an Excel date cell. Convert the column in Excel if you need real dates for date calculations or formatting.
What are the limits, and can this tool convert XLSX to JSON?
This tool only converts JSON to XLSX, within Excel's limits of 1,048,576 rows, 16,384 columns and 32,767 characters per cell. Very large input is also limited by browser memory. It does not convert XLSX to JSON, create multiple sheets, or apply formatting such as column widths and styles.
